Manuscript Database / Digitisation of Old Manuscript Catalogs
Since the year 2000 the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek has converted earlier manuscript catalogues for the project "Manuscript Database" started in 1996. In the first project stage nine old manuscript catalogues with almost 10,000 descriptions were scanned, processed and stored in full-text mode and reviewed almost comprehensively for upload to the manuscript database. It is planned to conclude the work on the digitisation and comprehensive processing and reviewing of eight further catalogues with a total of around 25,170 manuscript descriptions for upload to the manuscript database in a further project stage. Six full catalogues with a high proportion of medieval manuscripts and two short catalogues, which have an inventory character, are to be added within this framework. With the conclusion of this further stage, all 17 catalogues to be entered in the manuscript database with priority will have been processed.
